We are Gamebok, a proudly South African independent game studio based in Cape Town.

We love retro games and want to create games that are truly nostalgic and that touch people. We are on a mission to spread joy and silliness with our unique games!

We hope that our games will positively impact the lives of our players and we strive to make games that push the boundaries of creativity and fun.

OUR NAME

Our Founder’s son, Reeve, is the original Gamebok 😎
When the national rugby team, the Springboks, won the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Reeve (who was 6 at the time) loved them so much that he inspired our founder to design a pixel springbok character.
Reeve also loved to play mobile games, so our founder started calling him Gamebok.
